After Bank of Utah: Where Things Stand in FedExCup Fall Points

Michael Brennan secured his PGA Tour future Sunday, winning the Black Desert Championship in his first start as a professional. That victory locks up his Tour card through 2026.

For other players, the pressure’s mounting with just three fall events left.

The top 100 in FedExCup points will earn Tour cards for 2026, and the battle for those final spots is intensifying. Max McGreevy (T-11 in Utah) and Thorbjorn Olesen (T-3) both played their way inside the cut line this week. Their gains came at the expense of Sami Valimaki (DNP) and Patrick Fishburn (MC), who dropped outside the crucial top 100.

There’s another race happening simultaneously. Players finishing between 51-60 at the end of the Fall Series will qualify for two signature events in 2026 — the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational. These tournaments feature elevated purses and stronger fields, making them highly coveted spots.

The movement here was minimal this week. Kevin Yu’s T-15 finish in Utah bumped him up two spots to No. 59. Rico Hoey made the biggest move, jumping 30 places to 61st after his runner-up showing, but he’s still just outside the qualifying threshold. Joe Highsmith was the unfortunate casualty, dropping from inside the top 60 to 62nd.

The fall schedule is winding down quickly. Players on the bubble have just three tournaments left to secure their position:

  • Nov. 6-9: World Wide Technology Championship
  • Nov. 13-16: Butterfield Bermuda Championship
  • Nov. 20-23: RSM Classic

For players like Valimaki, Fishburn and Hoey, these final events aren’t just tournaments — they’re career-defining opportunities. The difference between finishing 100th and 101st could mean the difference between a full Tour card and conditional status for next season.
