Brooke Matthews just earned a two-year lease on a Lamborghini Huracán after acing the par-3 12th hole at Pelican Golf Club. The 27-year-old struck her tee shot from 142 yards, landing it in the middle of the green before it rolled straight into the cup.
She’s the fourth player to claim the luxury car prize at this event. Austin Ernst, Pavarisa Yoktuan and Su Oh all accomplished the same feat on the 12th hole back in 2021.
But Matthews has bigger goals in mind. She’s trying to play her way into next week’s CME Group Tour Championship, the LPGA’s season finale featuring a massive $11 million purse. The hole-in-one boosted her from 62nd to a projected 58th in the standings, with only the top 60 players qualifying.
She didn’t stop there. Matthews followed up her ace by eagling the par-5 14th hole, vaulting into a tie for third in the tournament and improving her projected CME ranking to 52nd. That’s a significant jump that could secure her spot in the season-ending championship.
The stakes are enormous for players making it to Naples, Florida next week. Every qualifier has a shot at the $4 million winner’s check – the largest prize in women’s golf. For Matthews, that Lamborghini might end up being just a nice bonus if she can maintain her position and lock up her spot in the field.
