Bryson DeChambeau won LIV Golf Singapore in dramatic fashion Sunday, claiming victory in a playoff after Richard T. Lee missed a 2-foot putt that would have extended the contest.
DeChambeau, who hit his tee shot into the water on the playoff hole, still managed to salvage par. He had closed with a 5-under 66 at Sentosa Golf Club, including a crucial birdie on the par-5 18th that got him to 14-under for the tournament. Lee matched that total with his own 66, powered by four birdies in his final six holes.
Lee Westwood finished third at 12-under after a final-round 70, marking his best result since joining LIV.
The playoff seemed destined for additional holes when Lee, facing just a 2-footer for par, rushed his stroke and watched in horror as the ball spun violently off the left lip.
“It was a short putt and I wanted to just hit it hard, and I hit it a little too hard,” Lee explained afterward. “I think the adrenaline was pumping a little bit.”
Despite the heartbreaking finish, the 35-year-old Lee collected $2.25 million for second place—the largest payday of his career. He’d earned his spot in the Saudi-funded league by winning the LIV Promotions event and was bidding to become the first wild card player (those not affiliated with a team) to win on the circuit.
DeChambeau couldn’t hide his shock when Lee’s putt missed, placing his hands over his head in disbelief.
“To actually see that happen in front of you, for you to be the positive receiving side of it, it’s just a weird feeling,” DeChambeau said. “But it’s a win and something I’ll appreciate for the rest of my life. Even if I lost today, I was still looking pretty good at my game. I was excited the way I was striking it coming in the last couple days.”
The victory marks DeChambeau’s first win over 72 holes since his U.S. Open triumph at Pinehurst No. 2 in 2024 and his fourth title on the LIV Golf circuit.
Jon Rahm finished fifth, ending an impressive run where he’d either won or finished second in five consecutive tournaments.
In the team competition, the 4 Aces captained by Dustin Johnson claimed victory for the second straight week.
