Davis Chatfield delivered a stunning 12-under 59 in Thursday’s opening round of the Compliance Solutions Championship, capped by an albatross on the par-5 15th and a 30-foot birdie putt on his final hole. The remarkable finish saw Chatfield play the last five holes at The Patriot Golf Club in Owasso, Oklahoma in 6-under par.
It’s the third sub-60 round on the Korn Ferry Tour this season. Myles Creighton and Adrien Dumont de Chassart both shot 59s during the Wichita Open earlier this year.
Chatfield’s 59 is part of a larger trend in professional golf this year. His performance marks the eighth sub-60 round across all tours in 2024. The PGA Tour has seen Jake Knapp post 59 at the Cognizant Classic, while Sebastian Munoz matched that number at LIV Golf Indianapolis. On the PGA Tour Americas, Philip Barbaree Jr., Brett White and A.J. Ewart have all broken 60 as well.
The hot round gave Chatfield a two-shot lead over Zecheng Dou, who wasn’t exactly struggling with an impressive 61 of his own.
