A history-making moment unfolded in Bermuda as Egor Eroshenko became the first Russian ever to make the cut in a PGA Tour event.
The 67 he shot on Friday wasn’t just another good round of golf – it was a breakthrough that’s been years in the making. Eroshenko lit up the back nine with a scorching 31, pushing his two-day total to 3-under 139 at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

"I’m super excited," Eroshenko said, still trying to process his achievement. "I’m still kind of in the fog not figuring out what’s happening."
It’s turning into quite a month for Russian golf. Just last week, Eroshenko’s girlfriend, Nataliya Guseva, grabbed second place at the LPGA’s Lotte Championship in Hawaii. She’s blazing her own trail as the first Russian to earn an LPGA card.
Instead of playing this week’s LPGA event in Florida, Guseva kept a promise she’d made to Eroshenko – to be there if he qualified for Bermuda.
"She’s been like a mental coach," Eroshenko laughed. "Yesterday she was telling me ‘You’re crazy. Just stop thinking about this and this.’"
The path here wasn’t easy. Eroshenko had to win a Monday qualifier in Orlando just to get his shot. Before him, no Russian had ever teed it up in a PGA Tour event.
To put this in perspective: There are only four Russian male golfers even listed in the Official World Golf Rankings. The highest ranked? Mikhail Morozov at No. 3,736.
Eroshenko’s making the cut will push him past that mark.
Both he and Guseva played college golf in Florida – him at UCF, her at Miami. While she’s already found success on the LPGA Tour, ranking ahead of stars like Rose Zhang, he’s still carving out his path.
He’s already got his next challenge lined up: qualifying school for the Asian Tour.
But for now, he’s got two more rounds in Bermuda. And his personal mental coach will be right there watching.
