A DP World Tour developmental player has been suspended for 10 events after what the tour calls a “serious breach” of its code of conduct.

Cedric Gugler, a 25-year-old Swiss golfer, will miss the first 10 tournaments of the upcoming HotelPlanner Tour season after officials determined he putted from incorrect positions multiple times during a tournament.

The violations occurred during this summer’s Raiffeisenbank Golf Challenge, where Gugler was disqualified after the first round when his actions were reported.

The tour’s independent disciplinary panel didn’t mince words, ruling that Gugler’s green infractions constituted a “reckless infringement of the Rules of Golf” and a “serious breach” of the circuit’s behavior code.

The world No. 875 will begin serving his suspension when the HotelPlanner Tour (formerly the Challenge Tour) kicks off in late January. The complete schedule hasn’t been released yet.

It’s a significant setback for Gugler, who struggled through most of the 2023 season. He made just seven cuts in 19 starts, with a T30 as his best finish. His season earnings totaled a mere €9,483, though he had recently advanced to the final stage of Q-School.
