Henrik Stenson is returning to the DP World Tour.

The 49-year-old Stenson, who was relegated from LIV Golf this year after four seasons with the league, will be exempt on the DP World Tour this upcoming season via the legends category. This comes after he paid his outstanding fines and served an “undisclosed suspension.”

Stenson settled over 1 million pounds in penalties to facilitate his return to the DP World Tour. It’s worth noting that LIV is expected to stop paying its members’ fines after this year, which likely factored into his decision.

The Swedish golfer joined LIV as a co-captain of the Majesticks in July 2022, a move that cost him his 2023 European Ryder Cup captaincy and led to suspensions from both the DP World and PGA tours.

After finishing 52nd in LIV points this year, Stenson lost his spot in the league. While he could technically participate in LIV’s Promotions event in January to try and regain his membership, his decision to settle accounts with the DP World Tour signals he’s headed in a different direction.

Stenson last played on the DP World Tour in 2023 before resigning his membership. That resignation came after a court ruled in favor of the DP World Tour’s ability to impose fines and suspensions on LIV players.

Meanwhile, Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, both Ryder Cup participants this year, have appealed their fines from last year, though no hearing date has been set yet.
