Tiger Woods and his 15-year-old son Charlie came incredibly close to their first PNC Championship win, but they couldn’t quite seal the deal against golf’s most successful father-son duo.

Bernhard Langer, at age 67, drained an amazing 18-foot eagle putt in a playoff to grab his sixth PNC title – this time with his son Jason, a 24-year-old former Penn golfer who now works as an investment banker in New York.

The tournament came down to the wire at Orlando’s Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, where both teams put on a show that had the crowd buzzing.

Charlie Woods gave everyone the moment of the day when he knocked in a hole-in-one with a 7-iron from 175 yards out. The shot put Team Woods in the lead and had his dad beaming with pride.

But the Langers wouldn’t back down. They fired back with an eagle on the very next hole.

Both teams finished at a tournament-record 28-under par, forcing a playoff that came down to the par-5 18th hole. Charlie nearly won it there, with his eagle putt catching the edge but refusing to drop. That opened the door for the elder Langer’s winning shot.

“It was awesome,” Charlie said after the round. “No one made a mistake today. It was the most fun I’ve ever had.”

The Woodses have now finished second twice in their five tries at the PNC Championship, with their previous runner-up coming in 2021 behind Team Daly.

Bernhard Langer, who’s won four times with Jason and twice with his other son Stefan, showed nothing but respect for his opponents.

“I know most of you would’ve loved to have had Tiger here, and Charlie,” he told the crowd during the trophy ceremony. “I’m convinced they’re going to win this several times in the near future. They’re just too good.”

The veteran champion later added: “This is the fifth major for me because I love this tournament. I just love playing with my kids… And when Charlie made that hole-in-one, I’ve never seen Tiger happier.”

No other team came within four shots of the winners, as both the Langers and Woodses put on a masterclass in family golf that won’t soon be forgotten.
