Lydia Ko is dealing with a right-arm injury just days before the LPGA’s first major championship of the season.

Ko woke up Sunday morning with a neck spasm and tingling in her right arm, according to Golfweek’s Beth Ann Nichols. It’s an issue she’s experienced before, and she’s getting “a lot of treatment” hoping to be 100% by Thursday’s opening round at Carlton Woods’ Nicklaus Course.

“It’s better than yesterday, but still doesn’t feel like my normal arm,” Ko said.

“It was playable,” she added, “but I could feel it at the top of my backswing and my finish.”

This timing is particularly concerning for Ko, who’s been in strong form this season. The world No. 3 already has a win under her belt after capturing the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore. Her history at the Chevron has been mixed – she tied for 17th last year at Carlton Woods after missing the cut in 2022 when the tournament first moved to The Woodlands, Texas.

Ko knows what it takes to win this major, having claimed the title back in 2016 when it was still played at Mission Hills in Ranch Mirage, California. The question now is whether her arm will cooperate as she looks to add a third major championship to her impressive resume.
