Masters 2025: Practice Suspended Monday at Augusta National Due to Weather

Masters 2025: Practice Suspended Monday at Augusta National Due to Weather image

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Practice at the Masters was suspended late Monday morning as Augusta National pulled spectators off the course due to worsening rain and thunderstorm threats.

The club had initially planned to close the course to fans earlier in the morning, but with only light rain falling, they allowed spectators onto the grounds for about 3½ hours before making the call.

Weather forecasts called for storms throughout Monday afternoon with the potential for severe conditions and 1 to 2 inches of rain. The good news? The outlook for tournament week looks promising, with mostly sunshine and temperatures in the 70s expected for the remaining days.

Few players ventured out for practice rounds in the challenging conditions. Those who did brave the elements — Keegan Bradley, Matthieu Pavon and Thomas Detry among them — played solo rather than in the traditional practice groups that typically fill Augusta’s fairways on Monday of Masters week.
