Stanford has placed four players on the Annika Award preseason watch list for the second straight year, showcasing the program’s continued dominance in women’s collegiate golf.
Senior Megha Ganne, fresh off her U.S. Women’s Amateur championship, headlines the Cardinal contingent. She’s joined by teammates Paula Martin Sampedro, Andrea Revuelta and Meja Ortengren – all ranked in the world amateur top eight. Ortengren, the sophomore from Sweden, enters the season with momentum after claiming a Ladies European Tour victory just last Sunday.
What makes Stanford’s representation even more impressive is that no other program placed more than two players on the 25-player list. Oregon, USC and Texas A&M each had multiple selections.
The Annika Award carries significant weight in collegiate golf as it’s determined through votes from players, coaches, sports information directors, media members and past recipients. It honors the top female NCAA Division I golfer each season. Last year’s winner, Florida State’s Mirabel Ting, has since turned professional after claiming the award as a junior.
