Rory McIlroy still has his 9-year-old touch.

McIlroy, who famously appeared on an Irish talk show in 1999 and successfully chipped balls into a washing machine, recreated the challenge Thursday on “The Tonight Show” in New York. The reigning Masters champion showed up wearing his size 38 green jacket, a fitting reminder of his recent triumph at Augusta National that completed his career Grand Slam.

During the show, McIlroy shared the congratulatory text he received from Tiger Woods after his Masters victory: “Welcome to the club, kid.” It’s a meaningful acknowledgment from the 15-time major winner to golf’s newest career Grand Slam member.

The highlight came when McIlroy and host Jimmy Fallon competed in a washing-machine chipping contest. No surprise – McIlroy won handily, proving some skills never fade even after 25 years.
