The Skins Game is making a comeback, and golf fans are in for a treat on Black Friday 2025.

This isn’t just another golf tournament. It’s the return of a Thanksgiving week tradition that had fans glued to their screens for 25 years before it went dark in 2008.

Pro Shop, a fresh face in the golf media world, just scored a deal with the PGA Tour to bring back this fan favorite. The company’s led by Chad Mumm, the guy behind Netflix’s "Full Swing" series.

The big questions are still up in the air – who’s playing, how much money’s on the line, and where it’ll happen.

For those who missed the original, The Skins Game was golf with a twist. Players competed hole by hole for cash prizes that got bigger as the round went on. Win a hole, win the "skin" – and the money that came with it.

Fred Couples was basically the king of The Skins Game. He walked away with nearly $4.5 million from just 11 appearances. It wasn’t just about the money though – his laid-back style was perfect for the event’s casual vibe.

The original kicked off in 1983 with some pretty big names: Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, and Gary Player. Even legendary broadcaster Vin Scully was part of the show.

Pro Shop isn’t just another media company. They’ve raised almost $20 million from heavy hitters including the PGA Tour itself, and they’re all about bringing golf to younger fans.

"We want to honor golf’s traditions while making something today’s fans will love," says Mumm. His company’s partnering with Propagate Content to put a fresh spin on the classic format.

The PGA Tour seems pretty excited about the whole thing. Chris Wandell, their media VP, says they’re looking forward to seeing how Pro Shop reimagines this iconic event for today’s sports fans.

The timing’s interesting – Black Friday’s usually about shopping, but in 2025, it might just be about watching some of golf’s biggest stars compete for some serious cash.
