The Old Course at St. Andrews will host the 2027 Open Championship, marking golf’s oldest major’s return to its spiritual home.

The R&A’s announcement confirms St. Andrews’ traditional five-year rotation in the Open rota. The 155th Open will run July 15-18, 2027, bringing the world’s best players back to the game’s most historic venue.

It’s been a stage for countless memorable moments, most recently when Cameron Smith charged through the field on Sunday to capture the 150th Open in 2022. His victory added another chapter to the Old Course’s rich championship history, which dates back to its first Open in 1873.

“I’m hugely excited to be making this my first announcement at the R&A,” said new R&A chief executive Mark Darbon. “I’m looking forward to The Open’s return to St. Andrews every bit as much as the fans and the players. There is something special about The Open being played on the Old Course and so many of the great champions have walked these fairways since the first staging here in 1873.”

The 2027 men’s major schedule is now set with an impressive lineup of venues:

  • The Masters at Augusta National
  • PGA Championship at PGA Frisco
  • U.S. Open at Pebble Beach
  • The Open at St. Andrews

Before returning to the Home of Golf, The Open will visit Royal Portrush in 2025 and Royal Birkdale in 2026.
