Steve Allan won the Boeing Classic on Sunday for his second PGA Tour Champions victory in three starts, closing with a clutch birdie for a 7-under 65 and a one-stroke victory over Stewart Cink.
The 51-year-old Australian sealed the win with a 5-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge. Cink, trailing by just one stroke heading to the final hole, couldn’t match Allan’s birdie after his greenside bunker shot caught the lip, forcing him to settle for par and a final-round 70.
It’s Allan’s third PGA Tour Champions victory this season. He finished at 15-under 201, continuing what’s been a breakthrough year after wins at The Galleri Classic at Mission Hills in March and the Dick’s Open in July.
Ernie Els and Darren Clarke made Sunday charges, each posting 66s to share third place at 13 under. Alex Cejka finished alone in fifth at 12 under after a solid 67.
Seattle native Fred Couples, a fan favorite throughout the week, struggled in the final round with a 75. The 65-year-old tied for 47th at 1 over in just his seventh senior start of the season.
