Tiger Woods just proved again why he’s golf’s biggest star, taking home $10 million by winning the PGA Tour’s Player Impact Program for the third time in four years.
And he did it while barely playing.

Woods only competed in five official tournaments last year and made the cut just once, finishing 60th at the Masters. But his star power continues to shine bright, especially after launching his new “Sun Day Red” clothing brand this February.
The program, known as PIP, rewards players who generate the most buzz and fan interest for the PGA Tour. It’s basically a measure of who moves the needle in golf, both on and off the course.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler grabbed second place and $8 million, while Rory McIlroy, last year’s PIP champion, came in third.
Here’s how the $50 million pot was split among the top 10:
• Tiger Woods: $10 million
• Scottie Scheffler: $8 million
• Rory McIlroy: $4.5 million
• Xander Schauffele: $4.5 million
• Jordan Spieth: $4.5 million
• Collin Morikawa: $4.5 million
• Shane Lowry: $3.5 million
• Justin Thomas: $3.5 million
• Tommy Fleetwood: $3.5 million
• Wyndham Clark: $3.5 million
This marks the end of an era for the PIP program, which the Tour has decided to retire. It’s being replaced by something bigger: the Player Equity Program, launching this year.
The new program will hand out $100 million annually through 2030, double what the PIP was paying recently. It’ll reward the top 20 players based on various factors, including some carried over from the PIP system.
Woods may have struggled on the course lately, but he did give fans something to cheer about in December when he and his son Charlie nearly won the PNC Championship together. It’s that kind of moment that keeps Tiger at the top of golf’s popularity charts, even as he plays less competitive golf.
