Stanford women’s golf just secured a verbal commitment from the nation’s top-ranked junior, Asterisk Talley, adding to what’s already an embarrassment of riches for the Cardinal program.

Talley, a Class of 2027 recruit from Chowchilla, California, announced her decision Monday on Instagram, writing: “This has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.”

The timing couldn’t be better for Stanford, which enters this fall as the unanimous NCAA title favorite. Their starting five already boasts an average World Amateur Golf Ranking of 7.2.

Talley’s resume speaks for itself. She recently captured the Girls Junior PGA Championship and has collected an impressive string of runner-up finishes over the past year at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Girls’ Junior. She currently sits at No. 12 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

What makes this commitment even more significant is that it follows what might be the greatest recruiting class in NCAA women’s golf history from two years ago. That 2025 class brought in Andrea Revuelta and Meja Ortengren — both top-10 amateurs — along with Junior Ryder Cuppers Nora Sundberg and Leigh Chien.

The Cardinal’s dominance seems poised to continue for years to come. With Talley’s commitment, they’ve added yet another elite talent to a program that’s already loaded with some of the best amateur golfers in the world.
