Viktor Hovland’s tough year just got a bit worse – he’s apparently broken his pinky toe in a run-in with a bed frame.

The golf star shared a photo on Instagram Friday showing what looks like a nasty injury to his smallest toe. “Bed frame 1 – 0 me,” he joked in the caption.

It’s been that kind of year for the 26-year-old Norwegian.

Despite being ranked eighth in the world, Hovland has only managed two top-10 finishes in 2024. Though to be fair, both were close calls – he grabbed third at the PGA Championship and nearly won the FedEx St. Jude with a second-place finish.

The timing isn’t great. He’s still on the list to play The Sentry in Maui next week, the first big tournament of 2025.

What makes this season especially frustrating is how it follows his breakout year. In 2023, Hovland was practically unstoppable, winning three tournaments and taking home the FedExCup championship.

He’s been working through some swing changes this year, which might explain the dip in performance. But even in a “down” year, he still played well enough to finish 12th in the FedExCup standings.

Now the question is whether this toe injury will affect his game in Hawaii – or if he’ll even make it to the first tee.
