Grant Forrest captured his second DP World Tour title Sunday at the Nexo Championship, winning by four shots at Trump International Golf Links Scotland. The victory came with an unexpected bonus—a congratulatory video call from the course owner, President Donald Trump.
Trump reached out from his course near Washington, where he was getting ready to play a round.
“I have very good players, but they’re not like you, Grant,” Trump said during the call, which the European tour shared on social media. “We all watched you play. What a round of golf. That course is big, it’s strong and tough. Your swing is great. And it’s a great honor you won.”
Forrest, the 32-year-old Scotsman, closed with a steady even-par 72 to finish four shots ahead of Joe Dean. It’s his first European tour win since claiming his maiden title four years ago—also on home soil in Scotland.
The Aberdeen layout has been busy hosting top-level golf lately. Last week, the same Trump International course welcomed the Senior PGA Championship on the European Legends Tour, where Oklahoma’s Bo Van Pelt took home the trophy.
